At Aspire we understand that our pupils often have complex needs and can present with their own challenges.
However, we also know that our school will provide the stability, consistency and care which will allow them to develop and thrive in a safe environment. Our staff recognise the difficulties that our pupils are facing and will act with compassion and understanding in their interactions with them. Staff always aim to build good relationships with pupils so that they understand their needs and are able to support learning and behaviour to maximise potential and achievements.
The ethos of our school actively encourages all members to make the correct choices and to take ownership and responsibility for their behaviour. Trauma Informed Practice, Restorative justice, emotional coaching and positive praise are at the heart of our practice.
At Aspire Academy, ‘The ASPIRE way’ has been adopted to provide a consistent approach towards positive behaviour across the school. It also forms the basis of our ‘Gateway Curriculum’.
At Aspire, we aim to work in partnership with our parents, as we know that as parents you know and understand your child best. It is only by working together that we can really bring about lasting changes that will enable the pupils to be successful in school and in the future.

Green Letter
Green Letter
Green Letters are awarded at the end of the day where children have had a good day overall, made positive choices andfollowed 'The Aspire Way'!
Green letters are recorded and counted and become currency for the children to spend on rewards and trips.
There are often special activities available at Golden Time for children who have earned their Green Letter that day.
Children have regular opportunities to 'spend' their Green letters at the very popular 'Green Letter Shop'. They can also sign up to participate in Hot Chocolate with the Head Teachers or other special activities.
There are also opportunities to save up for bigger trips and activities. Popular activities include a trip to Gravity or Ninja Warrior.
Budgeting with their Green Letters is a great introduction to budgeting and prioritising spending as just like money, Green Letters will run out if you choose to keep spending!!
Green Letters are much sought after by the children as they strive to earn their Green Letter every day.
Individual adaptations are in place for children for whom earning a Green Letter may feel overwhelming or too much to ensure they remain motivating and achievable for all!

Hundred Square Ticks
Hundred Square Ticks
Hundred Square Ticks are used to reward positive choices, desired behaviours, participation etc in the moment, throughout the day.
Children can be awarded ticks by any member of staff at any point of the day as a way of catching the children doing the right thing!
Ticks are often used to embed a focus behaviour for an individual, group or class. Ticks can be awarded for completing learning tasks, following instructions, displaying positive social behaviours, participating in interventions, taking on responsibilities in class and around school... the list is endless!
When Hundred Squares are 'full' the child will receive their choice of reward. This could be a choice of activities for their class - extra playtime, party, movie etc. or an individual reward from a treat box. Different classes/children will have different systems based on the needs and wishes of the children to ensure the rewards are motivating and inspiring for all.
The children are always excited to put their ticks on their chart and watch them fill up!

Golden Time
Golden Time
Golden Time takes place for 20 minutes at the end of each day.
During Golden Time children are able to choose to participate in an activity they enjoy.
Golden Time minutes are earned throughout the day for achieving their 3 targets during lesson times
To participate in lessons and complete my work
To listen to the adults and follow instructions
To be kind (words and actions) and keep myself and others safe
Where Golden Time minutes are lost throughout the day children will spend those minutes in class reflecting on their day and their choices with an adult with a view to making a plan to ensure they know how to earn those minutes tomorrow! They are then able to enjoy the rest of Golden Time with an activity of their choosing.
